News Press Releases Koster makes it official, files for U.S. Congress

June 20, 2011

Arlington, WA - John Koster, who announced in May his intention to run for Congress in 2012, made it official today, filing paperwork with the Federal Election Commission.

Outspent by incumbent Congressman Rick Larsen by a 2 -1 margin in 2010, Koster overcame a 48% - 24% early polling deficit to finish ahead of Larsen on election night, eventually losing by the narrowest of margins after all the ballots were counted.

With the Koster campaign off to a much earlier start this time around, Koster has made it clear that he will not stand idly on the sideline while his entrenched opponent stockpiles a massive campaign war chest:

"Our campaign team and supporters realize that 2010 was only 'half time' in the battle for attaining a conservative majority in Congress and regaining the White House. The National Journal referred to our race last year as 'one of 2010's most bruising elections.ยด We will continue to remind our opponent of the high unemployment rate, that the economy is still in shambles, and that the national debt continues to grow by the second," said Koster.

"This election will be about free market solutions, real job creation, and putting the federal government on a diet of less regulation and less spending - which will never happen if career politicians like Rick Larsen, beholden to special interests, are allowed to remain in office."

Koster has assembled an experienced and talented campaign team, which includes the services of Allied Communication Strategies, a Washington State consulting firm led by political pros Tom McCabe, Brian Minnich, Erin Shannon and Bob Wickers. Wickers was Mike Huckabee's chief political consultant during his 2008 Presidential campaign. McCabe, Minnich and Shannon previously worked for the Building Industry Association of Washington where they helped raise $13.4 million for Republican candidates in Washington State. "These folks bring our team to a formidable level that will be difficult for our liberal opponent to match. I'm ready to get started and I'm ready to win", said Koster.

John Koster's first fundraising event will be an "Old Fashioned Picnic and BBQ", to be held on July 2nd in Arlington, WA. To learn more about the event and/or the Koster for Congress campaign, please visit the campaign website at KosterForCongress.com
